I’ve always loved candles, but had a difficult time finding pure, natural candles that are healthier for people and the environment. That’s when I began experimenting with candle making and fell completely in love with the process!

Brightwood Candle Company was born and I now had a way to be creative, making naturally beautiful candles and also use this company as a vehicle to create awareness for an amazing organization I now volunteer for advocating for foster youth in San Diego County.

My daughter and I were both adopted into loving families, but that's not always the case for many children. Approximately 400,000 children are in foster care today and many are severely neglected and abused. My time as a CASA was the most rewarding time of my life and goal my is to educate and encourage more to become CASA's themselves. It requires just 12 hours a month and will make an incredible difference in the life of a deserving child. 

Once foster children enter the system, their world suddenly includes court hearings, social workers, attorneys, and often new homes and schools. Through it all, a CASA is a consistent, caring presence for a child.
